Getting There

Our shack is approximately 30 mins from the Ferry and the Dennes Point turn off is about 8.5km from the ferry terminal. Once you turn off the main road (Lennon Road) you stay on the same road (Bruny Island Main Road) until you reach Dennes Point. Bruny Island Main Road turns into Nebraska Road when you make a left hairpin turn at the Jetty.

Our shack is approximately 2km past the jetty, there is a street number next to the gate. When coming up the driveway you can park on the right-hand side of the shack where there is level access to the back door.

Keys

We will contact you individually about the keys

Drinking Water

We are on tank water, which is rainwater collected from our roof and is not treated. However, we use it for drinking water without boiling it. If you are concerned there is a 1L glass jug in the kitchen cabinets that you can use to chill boiled water in the fridge if you would prefer.

Septic Tank

All our wastewater is processed through a septic tank. So, we ask you to not put anything down the toilet other than the toilet paper provided. To avoid it getting blocked its best to flush with every use of the toilet. We also try and avoid any harsh chemicals. There is septic safe washing up liquid and multipurpose spray in the kitchen.

BBQ

The BBQ on the deck is well used and unfortunately the built-in igniter doesn’t work anymore. There is a long handled lighter in the hallway cupboard. If this fails, there are matches in the cabinet drawer under the TV.

TV/DVD

The skinny white remote controls the TV. We don’t have internet connected at the shack and therefore you will not be able to use any streaming services. We do have a DVD player which is controlled using the black remote controller. On this note though, the DVDs are mostly kids movies.

To turn on the TV hold the power button for 5 seconds on the remote.

Reverse Cycle Air conditioner

You will most likely need the air conditioner rather than the heating during your stay. You will find the remote control in the cabinet drawer under the TV, but the split system is located on the wall high above the fridge. The shack is very well insulated and double glazed so it can get quite hot in the late afternoon.

Fire (wood heater)

Please use the fire if you would like. But also take note of firebans during hot weather. The TFS website is here. There is extra wood in the back shed.

Please refrain from having an outdoor fire in summer as it is tinder dry.

Rubbish/Recycling

There is a recycling basket under the sink in the kitchen. If you fill the kitchen rubbish bin there are additional rubbish bags in the third drawer down. Rubbish can be left in the kitchen bin and we will remove it when we are next down. There is a rubbish bin outside (near the key safe) but you don’t need to put the rubbish in there unless you fill the kitchen bin and need more room. If you use the outside bin, make sure the lid is secured as quolls like to find their way into rubbish bins.

Access to the Beach

There is beach access a few minute’s walk back towards Dennes Point (approximately 194 Nebraska Rd). This track isn’t very long but does have steps and soft sand to access the beach.

When you leave

Please ensure all lights and kitchen appliances are switched off and more importantly all taps are also turned off. Lock the glass sliding door from the inside and then lcok the back door on you way out.

Return the keys to the key safe and close the gates on you way out.

We really hope you enjoy your stay at our shack. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me or send me a message.
